"Look, he's smiling." Wide blue eyes stared out upon the world. A woman held a baby in her arms, and she couldn't stop gazing into the round blue eyes. A tiny hand stretched up and reached for her face. She smiled. The child smiled. The blue eyes searched the woman's face, darting from forehead to nose to lips to eyes and back to the nose, over and over again. The woman held the baby up closer to her face, and a small, warm hand touched her cheek, the tiny fingers tracing a line down to her chin. "My little dear… he's smiling at me." A man glanced up momentarily up from his paper. He smiled with half of his mouth and went back to reading.
